{"revision":"c10276e953456835cdbb1f3a60d58ae1980be353","document":{"id":687,"path":"api-reference/scripts/set-remove-logpts.md","title":"Set or remove logpoints","bundle":null,"doc_type":null,"release":"australia","body":"\n# Set or remove logpoints\n\nSet breakpoints or conditional logpoints to log messages to the console at specific lines, and remove logpoints when you are done debugging them.\n\n## Before you begin\n\n-   Set the **glide.debug.log\\_point** system property to `true`. See [Available system properties](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/platform-administration/r_AvailableSystemProperties.md) for more information.\n-   Role required: admin or script\\_debugger\n\n## About this task\n\nLogpoints belong to the developer who sets them. Developers must set and remove their own logpoints.\n\n**Note:** At a specific line, you can set either a logpoint or breakpoint but not both.\n\n## Procedure\n\n1.  Navigate to the server script to debug.\n\n    For example, navigate to **All** > **System Definition** > **Business Rules**.\n\n2.  From the Syntax Editor, click the gutter next to a script line.\n\n    |Action|Description|\n    |------|-----------|\n    |**Set a logpoint**|Right-click a blank line and click **Add logpoint** to set a logpoint.|\n    |**Remove a logpoint**|Right-click a logpoint and select **Remove logpoint** to remove it.|\n    |**Edit a logpoint**|Right-click a logpoint and select **Edit logpoint** to edit it.|\n\n    **Note:** The script entered for the logpoint must have the same format as that of the script in GSLog and GSInfo script includes.\n\n3.  From the Syntax Editor toolbar, click the **Open Script Debugger** icon \\[Omitted image \"script-debugger.png\"\\] Alt text: Script debugger icon.\n\n4.  On the Script Debugger window, trigger the script.\n\n    For example, create a record to trigger an insert business rule script.\n\n    **Note:** You can also add logpoints in the Script Debugger window.\n\n5.  In the Script Debugger window, click **Session Log** to view the logpoints.\n\n6.
