{"revision":"c10276e953456835cdbb1f3a60d58ae1980be353","document":{"id":3886,"path":"build-workflows/workflow-activities/r_NotificationActivity.md","title":"Notification workflow activity","bundle":null,"doc_type":null,"release":"australia","body":"\n# Notification workflow activity\n\nThe **Notification** activity sends an email or SMS message to specified users or groups.\n\n## Input variables\n\nUpdate the recipients list or delete the activity from the flow if you want to stop the notifications.\n\n<table id=\"table_edm_z4l_gh\"><thead><tr><th>\n\nField\n\n</th><th>\n\nDescription\n\n</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td class=\"subhead\" colspan=\"2\">\n\nAddressees\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nTo\n\n</td><td>\n\nThe users who will be recipients of the email.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nTo \\(groups\\)\n\n</td><td>\n\nThe members of the groups that will be recipients of the email.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nAdvanced\n\n</td><td>\n\nIf selected, the script in the **To \\(script\\)** field is called to specify additional recipients of the email.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nTo \\(script\\)\n\n</td><td>\n\nIf **Advanced** is selected, this script is called and should set the variable *answer* to a comma-separated list of user or group sys\\_ids that you want to add as recipients of the email.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td class=\"subhead\" colspan=\"2\">\n\nMessage\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nSubject\n\n</td><td>\n\nThe subject line of the email.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nMessage\n\n</td><td>\n\nThe email body that is sent. To include the value of a field in the message body, place the cursor at the point in the text where you want the field's value inserted. Then click the + icon next to **Fields** and select the field you want.\n\n</td></tr></tbody>\n</table>## States\n\nThe activity state tells the workflow engine what to do with the activity.\n\n|Field|Description|\n|-----|-----------|\n|Executing|The workflow engine knows to start the `run` function of the activity.|\n|Finished|The activity finished running.
