Configure this scheduled job by navigating to **System Definition** &gt; **Scheduled Jobs**.\n\nYou can control the processing of event statistics using the **evt\\_mgmt.event\\_processing\\_stats\\_period** property. For information about configuring this property, see [Configure statistics processing period](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/it-operations-management/event-management/add-property-statistics-processing-period.md).\n\nRole required: evt\\_mgmt\\_operator\n\n## About this task\n\nYou can view key metrics from the instance to ensure that performance is not affected and monitor the status of the processing of events. For more information about viewing self-health monitoring statistics, see [View Metric Intelligence self-health statistics](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/it-operations-management/metric-intelligence/xmlstats-oi-self-health.md).\n\n## Procedure\n\n1. In a browser where the instance is running, run the XML Stats script by appending the following text to the instance URL: `xmlstats.do?include=XMLStatsEm`\n\n2. Press **Enter**.\n\n3. Monitor the event processing metrics that are reported to ensure that events are processed according to accepted benchmark values.\n\n\n## Result\n\n## Sample output after running the XML Stats script\n\n```\n<xmlstats created=\"Tue Oct 23 04:01:25 PDT 2018\" includes=\"XMLStatsEm\" version=\"2\">\n<itom_event_management>\n<event_processing>\n<processed count=\"47\" max_process_time=\"10\" mean_process_time=\"5\" record_time=\"2018-10-23 11:00:41\"/>\n<ready count=\"7\" oldest_ready_event=\"37\" record_time=\"2018-10-23 11:00:41\"/>\n<error count=\"5\" record_time=\"2018-10-23 11:00:41\"/>\n<total_created count=\"5\" record_time=\"2018-10-23 11:00:41\"/>\n</event_processing>\n</itom_event_management>\n</xmlstats>\n```\n\nThe event processing metrics in the report are described in the following table.\n\n**Note:** The default processing cycle is events created in the last hour and updated in the last minute.\n\n<table id=\"table_vtl_5kd_wfb\"><thead><tr><th>\n\nMetric\n\n</th><th>\n\nDescription\n\n</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td class=\"sub-head\" colspan=\"2\">\n\nEvent processing statistics\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nprocessed count=n\n\n</td><td>\n\nNumber of events processed by the instance.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nmax\\_process\\_time=n\n\n</td><td>\n\nLongest time taken by the instance to process an event.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nmean\\_process\\_time=n\n\n</td><td>\n\nAverage time taken by the instance to process the events in this cycle.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td class=\"sub-head\" colspan=\"2\">\n\nEvent ready statistics\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nready count=n\n\n</td><td>\n\nNumber of events that are in Ready state and are available to be processed.Default processing cycle: events created in the last hour and updated in the last minute.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\noldest\\_ready\\_event=n\n\n</td><td>\n\nLongest time taken by an event to remain in Ready state.
