It provides a place for branding and other important site-wide functionality.\n\n## Before you begin\n\nRole required: content\\_admin or admin\n\n## About this task\n\nSome of the options that are available in headers include, global search, text size toggle, menus for navigational purposes, and the user name with logout link.\n\n## Procedure\n\n1. Navigate to **All** > **Content Management** > **Blocks** > **Headers**.\n\n2. Click **New**.\n\n3. Complete the form.\n\n\n
\n\nField\n\n\n\nDescription\n\n
\n\nName\n\n\n\nType a unique name for the header block.\n\n
\n\nBackground\n\n\n\nSelect a background for the header logo and menus.- **None** - No background is rendered.\n- **Gradient/Image** - Specify an image or gradient image to serve as the background.\n- **Colored Bars** - Specify colors for three different sections of the header, top, middle, and bottom.\n\n\n
\n\nImage\n\n\n\nIf **Background** is **Gradient/Image**, upload an image for the header block background. For gradients, upload a gradient image.\n\n
\n\nTop bar color\n\n\n\nIf **Background** is **Colored Bars**, enter a CSS color or color name to use as the background for the top menu.\n\n
\n\nMiddle bar color\n\n\n\nIf **Background** is **Colored Bars**, enter a CSS color or color name to use as the background for the logo and text.\n\n
\n\nBottom bar color\n\n\n\nIf **Background** is **Colored Bars**, enter a CSS color or color name to use as the background for the bottom menu.\n\n
\n\nLogo\n\n\n\nSelect a logo image. The image is also a link to the main page.\n\n
\n\nActive\n\n\n\nSelect this check box to make the block available for use.\n\n
\n\nText\n\n\n\nType the text to display beside the logo.\n\n
\n\nConditional\n\n\n\nSelect the check box and type any scripted conditions to apply in the **Condition** script field that appears.\n\n
\n\nCategory\n\n\n\nSelect a category to provide organization for the header block. The category also determines the detail page in which header block links open. Detail pages often display information in different ways.\n\n
\n\nTop Menu\n\n\n\nSelect a navigational menu block to use as a menu above the logo.\n\n
\n\nBottom Menu\n\n\n\nSelect a navigational menu block to use as a menu below the logo.\n\n
\n\nHeight\n\n\n\nSpecify the height for the header.\n\n
\n\nSearch\n\n\n\nSelect this check box to add a search element in the header.\n\n
\n\nFont sizer\n\n\n\nSelect this check box to include text sizing controls in the header.\n\n
\n\nLogin\n\n\n\nSelect this check box to include a login link in the header. If the user is logged in, this element displays the user name and a logout link. If you specify a login page on the site record, it is important to include a login link so users can enter their username and password.\n\n
\n\nChat Queue\n\n\n\nSelect the chat queue that users access by clicking the **Help Desk Chat** button in the header. Clear the field to remove the button. This field appears only if the Chat plugin is active.\n\n
